DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CAR WASH AND A DETAIL?

If you don’t know the difference, no need to feel bad.  Most people get the two terms confused.

A car wash is just what it sounds like.  The car is washed and dried.  Most car washes include some type of tire shine.  If you splurge for the Deluxe Car Wash you may even get the interior vacuumed & wiped down with a wet towel as well as the interior of the windows cleaned. Your car is clean but still covered with all those unsightly swirls and scratches.  The grass, french fries, and lose change have all been removed from the floor of our car.  However, that stench is still lingering and those spots & stains continue to irk you every time you get in your vehicle. $25 and 30 minutes later you are even less excited about your vehicle than the day you purchased it.

By definition Auto Detailing is the performance of thorough cleaning, restoration, and finishing of an automobile, both inside and out, to produce a show-quality level of detail.”

A proper detail job  would eliminate those swirls and scratches.  You will no longer be embarrassed to have passengers in your ride.  Those spots, stains, and odors will be a thing of the past.  No need for a fruity air freshener or an overdose of Febreeze.  Remove the source of the odor and you remove the odor.

The difference between a car wash and a detail is in the details, literally.  A car wash is only one of the beginning steps in the detailing process.  During a Full Detail process every centimeter of the  vehicle receives attention.

Once the car has been washed, the paint is then decontaminated.  Depending on the condition of the paint, compounding and polishing may be necessary before wax/paint sealant is applied.

Vacuuming and wiping with a wet towel will do very little to actually clean the inside of your vehicle.  Carpets and floor matts should be scrubbed and the dirt removed with an extractor.  Leather and vinyl surfaces should also be scrubbed clean then treated and conditioned.  Air vents, air ducts, instrument panels, door panels, cup holders, and consoles will be meticulously cleaned.

Have you ever heard the expression “Don’t pee on me and tell me it’s raining”?  If not, think about that for a second.  Don’t let someone sell you a car wash and tell you that it’s a detail.
